Pregnancy Yoga and Birth Preperation
FIT 4 MUM Pregnancy Yoga & Birth preparation classes are taught by our resident Doula and Pregnancy Yoga expert, Nel.
Nel guides you through a uniquely designed 75 minute yoga class combined with childbirth preparation techniques to enhance your experience of pregnancy and childbirth. You will focus on breathing techniques, build your strength and stamina, & focus on relaxation to help alleviate anxiety and provide you with inner focus ready for labour and birth.
Our classes aim to enhance your feelings of well-being during this exciting time. I recently gave birth to my twins, Louie and Lexie and enjoyed exercising through pregnancy. Yoga gave me the, much needed, time out to enhance the connection between me and my babies. I found exercising through pregnancy increased my energy levels and helped my posture enormously – not to mention my post natal recovery. Importantly with Yoga, the breathing, pelvic floor and balance postures were invaluable throughout labour and through the physical demands of carrying twins.
Pregnancy Yoga helped release tension in my shoulders and kept my spine and core strong. I had a very calm, happy and healthy pregnancy (and now have two very happy healthy babies!) thanks to my all round fitness programme.
I want to bring the best of my experiences to you and so am very happy to be adding Pregnancy Yoga to the Fit 4 Mum offering.
At FIT 4 MUM Pregnancy Yoga and birth preparation classes you will learn:
- Control through breathing

- Awareness through learning about your body from the inside

Yoga Practice during pregnancy helps to:
- Open your chest for deeper breathing
- Lift your breastbone to make more room for your baby
- Hold your spine erect for free flow of energy

- Prepare you for change
- Aid you in deep relaxation
- Improve posture
- Strengthen pelvic floor muscles
- Relieve pregnancy related aches and pains
- Boost energy levels
- Promote relaxation and restful sleep
Class details
Classes will run every Thursday on an ongoing basis at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Pyrford, Surrey.
Class times are from 7.45pm until 9pm.
Classes are small, ensuring plenty of individual attention, friendly, and are a great opportunity to meet other expectant mums.
The classes are booked in 6 or 12 week blocks so that you can reap the benefits of regular practice. We invite you to attend two taster sessions before you commit to us at a cost of £10 per session, paying as you go.
You can join at anytime after 14 weeks and classes can be taken right up until 40+ weeks.
If you let us know in advance of any dates you cannot attend within the 6 or 12 weeks, you will only be charged 50% of the fee for those dates.
Mats, cushions & blankets will be provided and we have specifically chosen our location for it’s wonderful underfloor heating to keep you cosy while you relax and have some well earned ‘me’ time.
